About Us

In the fall of 2004, a record number of thunder storms hit Southern California-in fact, it was the third highest to date in California history. At the same time, ProjectThunder founders Alex Sheycheno and Calvin Luttrell, noticed there was a value gap in the e-commerce and software design industry that created an oppurtunity. The setback customers faced was due to the fact that 80% of projects by most small web and software firms were failing to make it to completion. Most solutions simply did not generate any value for its intended customers. The disconnect between customer's vision and the supplied deliverable began to have a negative ripple effect as dissatisfaction in the marketplace has grew at an alarming rate.

Seeking to rectify this problem, Alex and Calvin set out to design a results-oriented, customer-friendly eCommerce/CRM software development firm specially equipped for the mid-level business arena. Their initial step was to create a team of local staff equipped to handle the heavy lifting duties in the areas of project design, development, and implementation.

To compliment the local ProjectThunder team, an additonal workforce of specialists was assembled to handle the smaller but crucial projects. This was a grueling, multi-year process during which an international array of vendors was tested and recruited according to a strict performance criteria. The result was a team that could efficiently create a modern and effective e-commerce website for customers who have particular needs but lack a six-figure budget. The satisfaction is in the details.

At ProjectThunder, we take satisfaction from our customer-oriented performance. We work closely with the customer to create a project tailor-made for their specific e-commerce goals. Calvin Luttrell

chief executive officer

When the business of life brings about challenging situations, Calvin Luttrell continues to prove his ability to respond and follow-through with steadfast execution. He credits his experience as a senior support technician at GoldMine Software for providing exposure and instilling the values that would later become the cornerstone of his business ethos: To develop and maintain an environment of mutual support and encouragement, where a team works together to achieve a common goal.

For 12 years, Calvin has faced business setbacks amidst trying times, but pushed forward through consistently creating innovative ideas for companies to survive — even after the Dot-com bust and 9-11 tragedy. During his three years at 1-800-DENTIST, he pressed executives and coached the development team to start using the .Net development in lieu of the Classic ASP platform. He also worked with his team and created a new framework for building software on the Microsoft .Net platform which was utilized companywide to track inventory, sales and customer service issues. To enhance the ability to build the next generation line of company software, Calvin personally recruited four developers to ensure the right people were added to the team to create the desired result.

After completing the new 1-800-DENTIST internet Web site in 2004, the site saw an 100% increase in conversion. In Dr. Steven Covey's best-selling book, The 8th Habit (an update of the best seller The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People), he states that information workers are treated with the same values as the industrial age. Despite of the successes he'd achieved so far, this statement really rang true for Calvin. At that juncture, he was wrestling with a challenging personal life while simultaneously encountering major value differences with executives at his job.

Faced with these obstacles, Calvin called a long time colleague, Alex Sheychenko, with a vision of a company where software could be developed by a well-oiled machine —without the dysfunction of present day corporate politics. Determined to apply what Dr. Covey referred to as Emotional Intelligence (character traits that determine a leader's ability to make effective decisions) to their new endeavor, Calvin and Alex founded ProjectThunder in August 2004.

As the chief executive officer, Calvin alongside Alex directs all engineering, sales and business development efforts with an unwavering commitment to deliver the highest value possible in the mid-market space for e-commerce, CRM and SharePoint solutions. True to his core values, and high principles of quality, Calvin leads the ProjectThunder team in working with clients to achieve their goals by utilizing the best resources for the job, remaining in budget and delivering within a reasonable time frame while. The design process is fundamental to succeeding where others simply don't have the tools to succeed.

Calvin remains an avid believer that "to teach is to know," another concept from Dr. Covey he has implemented into his management style. He has published educational articles on topics including MS Office, MSMQ and .Net versions 1.1 and 2.0. When he and Alex are not coming up with the next great addition to ProjectThunder offerings, he is jokingly referred to as a Renaissance man who takes piano and vocal lessons, is an avid reader and researcher on the latest in business and health-related topics. Calvin believes the best investment you can make is the one you make in yourself and the people around you.

Alex Sheychenko

chief operating officer

As a child growing up in the Ukraine, ProjectThunder co-founder Alex Sheychenko was fascinated by the role of computers in the science fiction books he read. When his family immigrated to the United States in 1994, Alex jumped at the opportunity to participate in the creation of his childhood vision of the future. He enrolled in tech trade school, and after completing his training found himself writing sales force automation tools for GoldMine Software, where he first met Calvin Luttrell.

After this journeyman period Alex applied his knowledge to the healthcare industry, writing medical billing software and other utilities for a number of companies. This work eventually brought him back into contact with Luttrell. Finding that they possessed a shared vision of the computer industry, they united to co-found ProjectThunder.com, Inc., where he currently serves as Operations Officer and manages the international stable of vendors.

Muneeb Khan

lead engineer

Programming has always come easy to Muneeb Khan, who has been interested in creating web sites since his first days working with a computer. While living in his native Pakistan Muneeb earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Electrical Engineering with honors, and in 2004 relocated to southern California to complete a master’s program. By December 2005 he had earned a Master of Sciences in Computer Engineering, delivering a thesis on major compiler enhancements.

While still a student Muneeb held a position with MediaChase, where he wrote documentation for the eCF 3.1 software. After graduation, he took the position of Lead Engineer with ProjectThunder.com Inc., where he oversees major development efforts. In addition to these duties, Muneeb shepherds the customer interaction phases of development, including the company’s unique process for specializing each project to the customer’s specifications.

Muneeb believes that follow-through is one of the most crucial aspects to the e-commerce industry. He understands that it is not enough for the company to merely build a customer’s website; they must also provide the support and tools to turn that site into a thriving online business. And it is this need that, with ProjectThunder, he strives to fill.

John Grund

project manager

John Grund is no stranger to either software or the San Fernando Valley. He grew up in the neighboring Conejo Valley, where at the age of twelve found himself writing his first programming. As a young adult, John found himself in Pensacola, Florida, pursuing a dual major of Accounting and Speech, though he never strayed far from his love of computers.

After college John found himself assisting with the First Interstate/Wells Fargo Merger, and decided to shift his focus back from the financial industry to the technical. He served as the Kiosk Deployment Team Leader for Internet In A Mall, redefining their service infrastructure prior to their merger with EarthLink. Following this, he trained as a Microsoft Solutions Provider while working with Pacific Netcom in Calabasas, California. He went on to serve as the Network Administrator for GoldMine Software, and it was during this time that he met ProjectThunder co-founder Calvin Luttrell.

After the Founding of ProjectThunder.com. Inc., John accepted the position of Project Manager, applying his training and experience with both the financial and computer industries to the company’s many customer-oriented services. John also serves as the Technical Advisor to ProjectThunder’s Private Label Software division.

In his free time, John is an active churchgoer and community volunteer.
